In recent years, India has become the world’s third-largest pharmaceutical producer by volume and ranks tenth globally in pharmaceutical export value. Currently, India exports pharmaceuticals worth approximately USD 17 billion, with over 40% going to the Americas, 20% to Europe, 19% to Asia, and 19% to Africa. The country also benefits from a large pool of scientists and engineers, positioning its pharmaceutical industry for continued advancement.

As one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturing hubs, Indian pharmaceutical companies have been playing an increasingly important role in Vietnam’s healthcare market. Pharmaceutical cooperation has therefore become a key pillar in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
On Vietnam’s side, the government has set strategic targets for 2030 and 2045 to strengthen national healthcare security and reduce dependence on imported pharmaceuticals.
